The Sound Off for Poverty
The Sound Off for Poverty is a program developed by Love In the Name of Christ to educate young people about poverty in America, and empower them to take action to help people in need. By conducting a Media Fast, young people tune out life's distractions and tune in to God's heart for the poor. The program provides education, Bible lessons, activities, and service projects centered on God's Word and His heart for the poor. The aim of The Sound Off for Poverty is to give youth time away from all of life's distractions and time to focus on God's Word, prayer, and service to their neighbors in need.
A Media Fast is deliberate, focused time away from the distractions of electronic entertainment such as iPods, video games, movies, TV, internet, social media sites, and cell phones. Most groups that participate in The Sound Off for Poverty choose to conduct a Media Fast for 48 hours- usually from a Friday to Sunday. Over 25,000 teenagers across the nation have participated in The Sound Off for Poverty. Will you join us? All program materials are provided free of charge.
